Burt: Bellamy transfer request

A worrying report coming out this lunchtime - Craig Bellamy, to whom Mark Hughes was close to a father figure - is so upset at his departure that he has issued a transfer request:

Bellamy is understood to have delivered his request although it’s not known whether its verbal or written, and informed City that he is so angry by what happened that he would prefer not to play for the club again. Mancini’s first game in charge is the Boxing Day fixture against Stoke City.

We should get confirmation of this one way or the other soon. I'd be gutted if he went, he's one of my favourites. And if Mancini starts Robinho ahead of him on Saturday I will not be very impressed.

More unsourced rubbish from United lover Jason Burt. You should be more careful about what anti-City poison you choose to advertise Lonesome.I'm getting very worried about you.

Hi, I saw this in the Telegraph as well, but they've now taken it out to say he's 'considering' a transfer request.

I think someone at the Telegraph may have just remembered Bellamy suing papers last year after he was wrongly accused of having a bust up and storming out of West Ham. alan

I think it's an absolute certainty that CB has or will soon do so. He is incredibly hot headed and it's the sort of immature reaction you'd expect. Whether Burt is correct or not - CB led the 6 man protect to Cook and is likely to continue his protest.

I would be very sad to see Craig leave - he embodies the true City spirit.

We are fast turning into Chelsea. That said, I can imagine Macini doing a great job and bringing in some real quality players.

This is all about transition - faster than we all expected.

I am very saddened to see Hughes go and I wish him every success possible. And, let's be realistic, Craig Bellamy will without doubt follow him and I wouldn't be surprised if Given joined him too.

Although I like Bellamy as a player, if he wants out because of Hughes then sell him.

I dont want a player playing for us if he does not want to play for City, stuff the guy and sell him.

Clearly he does not want to play for City, only for Hughes so if its true and he wants out then he dont deserve to wear our shirt.

It's nothing more than an overt show of support for his mate. This is Bellamy's last chance for silverware and he wouldn't chuck it away for the sake of solidarity.

Bels was a true blue unlike, true blue on this site who fails to understand that players all over the world do, to a certain extent, play for their manager. Playing for a club is a paid job so get real. Also I suspect true on here was probably a foamer against Hughes. This is a backward step and if Bels leaves then good luck to him and he will no doubt find a lot of takers and will certainly score against City. Also Mancini will not last long, then where will the owners go?. Leave the club to its own fate?. They like the other foamers no Zilch about football

I would be surprised to find that there was anything inadvertent about Mancini's revelation that he was approached after the Hull game.

I don't see how it could be in his best interests to listen to Cook's lies and thereby become a party to the conspiracy Cook insists didn't and doesn't exist.

I suspect he took the opportunity yesterday to distance himself from Cook's fabricated version of events.

Like many others, i wish we had acted more transparently and respectfully towards Hughes and i'm unhappy that Cook continues to bring disrepute on the club.

I hope that the Chairman and the owner take the appropriate action against Cook and dismiss him, as they might have done a few weeks ago after the Uve Rosler farce.

I must add that despite the unsavoury manner of Hughes' sacking, i think the decision to replace him was justified and i'm excited about the prospect of Mancini as manager.

Tony.
