The stamp

I'm with Danny on this: it was a clear, deliberate and malicious stamp and Adebayor deserves to be banned for it. The celebration was stupid and childish but, on reflection, the stamp was much worse. There was no 'reaching for the ball' or 'finding his feet' - it was exactly what it looked like. Adebayor will be banned, and rightly so.

And with him go our chances of taking anything from Old Trafford.

Agreed. Van Persie isn't blameless though. Between Song, Van Persie and Gallas Ade had been kicked all afternoon and been given little protection by the ref.

Only a couple of minutes before Ade had been kneed from behind by Gallas and the free kick had been given against him!

His celebration was stupid - reminiscent of Henry in front of the spuds fans or Neville in front of LIverpool.

This stamp was a mindless rush of blood and deserves (like Michael Ball on Ronaldo or Eboue on Evra) to be suspended for three games.

If you want to read some of the most vile racist drivel check out the abhorrent comments from gooner fans on youtube http://tiny.cc/RW7rE
- makes me embarrassed to be a football fan.

Agreed ade should get a ban as he was out of order, but rvp's challenge was appaling and in my opinion should also go under the microscope. As should the arsenal fans who looked to be hurling bananas at ade. Nobody really comes out of this well apart from our stewards. But will the fa have the balls to take this as far as they should do?

Bellamy and Richards were good for City yesterday, and you've got Adebayor playing well.

That stamp was nasty though.

So the FA have moved faster than Usain Volt to make sure their version of jutice is meted out to Ade just in time to miss the derby. Yes he will get a 3 match ban and probably deservedly so.

Can we assume they will move with such pace to ensure justice for the Van Perise tackle on Ade and, more importantly, to Evra for his head butt on Corluka yesterday. Let's not hold our breath.

I think the most interesting element was van Persie's strongly worded statement, issued unusually quickly. An adept bit of spin doctoring by Arsenal to be sure.

Let's see exactly how, and how well, City responds to this. I'm not yet convinced Ade will be banned for the derby; I think our response will make a difference.

If City want Adebayor available for the derby, then all they have to do is appeal against any ban that is given, and this should take the whole process past next weekend..........

Agreed. Ade continues to cancel out brilliant performances with silly comments to the press, and is now taking it to the next level with stupid actions on the pitch. I'll be very surprised if Hughes doesn't reign him in pretty quick though. And he'll be earning his pay to do this, while continuing to get such great performances from Ade.

So if we are without Ade, Rob, Tevez, Kompany and Santa Cruz, then what is the team going to be against scum?

Given,

Richards, Toure, Lescott, Bridge,

Ireland, De Jong, Barry,

Shaun, Bellamy, Petrov

Bench: Taylor, Onuoha, Vidal, Sylvinho, Zabaleta, Weiss, Hughes?

Although Tevez, Kompany and Santa Cruz might be involved i can't see who will be the 7th man on the bench.

If the FA were to be consistent in their application of 'justice', then there would be no ban for either incident.

The stamp was bad (if deliberate), and I guess you can't complain at a ban for that if they can prove it was deliberate (which is absolutely NOT a given, despite what you think). These things always look bad in slow-mo; they should be assessed with real time replays only.

The attempts by Arsenal to subvert due process, and the comments by the FA, are frankly a complete disgrace and more or less ensure that there will be no fair hearing.

I think, sadly, that Adebayor might well get a 5 game ban, which is nothing short of disgusting, disgraceful, and a complete and utter joke. He deserves nothing for the celebration IMO - not even a fine - but I'd settle for a fine at this stage.

If they're going to haul Ade up, RvP should be hauled up too for his 'tackle'. I won't bother citing all the other incidents where the FA have conveniently ignored these things, as they're too numerous.

Over-reaction from City fans and the media. He could have hurt RvP much more if he'd wanted to. Watch it again, then try and work out how quickly it happened and if he really meant to hit him on the head. He didnt - RvP slid forward into his foot.
