Sturridge to Chelsea?

Matt Lawton and Simon Cass sound very confident about this one:
England Under 20 striker Sturridge has become the first signing of the new [Ancelotti] regime on a free after City refused to meet his £55,000-aweek wage demands. He made 16 Premier League appearances last season and scored four goals but Chelsea sporting director Frank Arnesen has been after him for three years.
His most likely destination depends on why exactly you think he failed to sign his contract. I imagine Chelsea are more likely to meet his wage demands than we are, although we're not exactly austere in our wage structure. But if we take Sturridge at his word that he wants first team football then this is a surprise. To be fair to him he is better than Franco di Santo. But first team football in a side with Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka and whoever else they buy this summer? Good luck with that Danny.

Feel sorry for him. Obviously his family advisers are driven by money instead of good advice.

think he'll be injury prone his whole career.

Naah... If it's true, then good luck to the lad. We'll get an arbitrated amount that we have to share with Coventry. The arbitrated amount they come up with will be interesting...

I am surprised he hasn't considered what moving to Chelsea did to Shaun but its the influence of the agent again I fear and surely City have proved that if the players perform they will be paid what they are worth. Sturridge wants the rewards first.

Meanwhile the cretinous Mirror is focusing on Barry and calling him a mercenary. I wonder if they will make the same point with Sturridge.

There is no greater way to realise your potential than by playing regularly. Chelsea have a squad full of players who would be first choice across the Premiership but they're getting left behind. If Sturridge goes, he'll just be joining Sinclair, Stoch and Di Santo in the reserves.

There's talk of Pato joining, which only drops Sturridge down another notch. Danny ain't no Pato.

In addition to the above players who would be ahead of his at Chelsea, apparently Shevchenko is on his way back to Chelsea following his loan spell back at Mlan, which would make sense as he'd be linking up with Ancelotti again.
Wrong move Danny.

People say that Sturridge would get more of chance at City than at Chelsea... but I'm not so sure anymore.

We're probably going to sign at least one if not two world-class strikers. Then we have Bellamy and Bojinov, Jo on his way back and Caicedo and Benjani. Then take into account that Hughes loves to play with just a single striker AND we're not even playing in Europe next season so less games.

Where would Danny get his chance?

I'm inclined to believe that he would get a better chance at Chelsea where there's just Anelka and Drogba ahead of him, and more games to play.
